February 21 - Mercy Moves through Me Award Luncheon

Saint Joseph's Mercy Care Services hosts our eighth Mercy Moves through Me Award event on February 21, 2013. This award is given to individuals or organizations for committed and outstanding service or advocacy for the underserved. An annual celebration, it was inaugurated in 2005 as one of Mercy Care Services' 20th anniversary events.

 

2013 Event: Thursday, February 21st, 11:30 - 1:00 p.m., The Georgian Terrace Hotel, 659 Peachtree Street, N.E., Atlanta GA 30308. Award Recipient Charlene Turner, Administrative Director of Social Services, Grady Health System.

August 8 - National Health Care for the Homeless Day

Saint Joseph's Mercy Care Services recognizes National Health Care for the Homeless Day with our traditional health screening event launched from our mobile coach parked curbside at partner agency Gateway. The event is part of National Health Center Week (August 6-10), which celebrates the service and contribution of community, migrant, homeless and public housing centers in providing access to affordable, high quality, cost-effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved persons.

 

October 13 - Annual Fall Festival

Saint Joseph's Mercy Care Services hosts our Eighth Annual Fall Festival on October 13, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Originating in 2005 as one of Mercy Care's 20-year anniversary events, the Festival continues each year as a tribute to our clients, service agency partners and the neighborhood.

Hosted in Mercy Care's parking lot, the festival brings health screening services, food, fun and entertainment to clients and community guests. This entertaining and informative venue provides an opportunity for Mercy Care to build community awareness of its many heath, education and supportive services.

December 21 - National Homeless Persons' Memorial Day Candlelight Vigil

On December 21, Saint Joseph's Mercy Care Services will host our seventh annual Candlelight Vigil at our downtown administrative building. Persons from local service agencies, churches, Saint Joseph's Health System, the state legislature and city government and members of the community-at-large will gather at dusk to remember and honor persons who died homeless in Atlanta during 2012.

On that evening, Mercy Care Services will be joined by cities across the nation in sponsoring commemorative events. Homeless Memorial Day has occurred on the first day of winter since 1990. The event is held in collaboration with National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Health Care for the Homeless Council.
